About the artist: David Penfound’s vivid mixed-media paintings capture the spiritual qualities of Native American cultures. His artistic affinity for the native people and landscape of North America is all the more remarkable when we consider that he is a lifelong inhabitant of England. In his youth, Penfound began reading extensively about Native Americans and their philosophies have inspired him ever since. Subsequent visits to the United States provided the artist with opportunities to broaden his knowledge and gather visual references. Using acrylics, gouache, watercolors, and colored pencils, he renders sensitive portraits of Indian people. Animals, birds, and breathtaking landscape vistas are also featured prominently in many of his paintings. Penfound lives with his family in a small market town in the south of England, where, in addition to painting, he plays drums in a rock band and flies radio-controlled model aricraft.
